Merab Dvalishvili is an outstanding mixed martial artist, representing the bantamweight division. Born on January 10, 1991 in Tbilisi, he showed an interest in combat sports from an early age. At the age of 21, Merab moved to the United States to pursue his MMA career and began training under renowned coaches Ray Longo and Matt Serra. He has been competing professionally since 2014 and has gained recognition through his participation in UFC tournaments.
In March 2024, Dvalishvili received US citizenship, which was an important milestone in his life. That same year, he became UFC champion, defeating American Sean O'Malley. His first successful title defense took place on January 18, 2025, at UFC 311 against Umar Nurmagomedov. Then, at UFC 316, he faced Sean O'Malley again and confirmed his champion status.
On October 4, 2025, at UFC 320, Dvalishvili defeated Cory Sandhagen by unanimous decision after five intense rounds. However, his title defense against Petr Yan on December 6 of that year ended in defeat.
