Umar Nurmagomedov is waiting for a rematch between Aljamain Sterling and Petr Yan

On March 7, 2021, the fight between the American mixed martial arts fighter Algemain Sterling and the Russian mixed martial arts fighter Petr Yan took place, during which the latter lost his UFC belt due to an illegal knee strike by his opponent.

On March 11, on his Instagram page, Sterling posted a photo with Umar Nurmagomedov, calling the fighter "young Eagle." As you know, the nickname "Eagle" is UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov. In the comments under this post, Umar wrote that he was waiting for Sterling's rematch with Yan.

In a recent fight in Las Vegas, Petr Yan was the leader in points. This battle was the first in the history of MMA, when the victory went to the fighter due to the disqualification of the opponent. After the award, Sterling looked upset and quickly removed the victory belt, leaving him in the cage.

Later on his Instagram, Aljamain revealed that he is still waiting to be allowed to train again. The American fighter does not rush things so as not to endanger his future career and health. But the athlete noted that, nevertheless, the rematch of the fight with Peter Yan should take place.

Today, both fans and mixed martial arts athletes are waiting for a rematch between Sterling and Yan. Following the sensational bout, UFC President Dana White announced that a rematch would be arranged at a later date. The exact date of the event has not yet been agreed.
